For the first time since the day she had sought sanctuary in the Church of St Michael did Adreanne step out of sight from the main church doors in the cover of the night. True, the rooftop of the compound still reached out to the skies like stakes that tried in vain to pierce the dark that cloaked the night overhead. It's looming wings scratched their place into the ruined city of Stitch and stuck out like a rose among the thorns of other delapidated or abandoned structures.
